Even bigger than that, the time Georgia dedicates to Renewal House’s cause and residents is unmatched. She often spends time with residents to help them develop skills and connections and to build nurturing relationships. Georgia takes the time to get to know the people Renewal House serves – focusing not on the challenges that have brought them to Renewal House but who they are. She sees humanity.
Georgia attends house events such as dinners and cookouts. She’s never just a guest and she never comes empty handed, she brings cookies or salads or something made from a favorite recipe from her mother. Georgia helps with setup and cleanup. She takes graduates to lunch when she thinks a boost in spirit is needed. Georgia is caring and she is invested.
Residents tell us that they are warmed by her kindness. This is the biggest gift that Georgia regularly gives to Renewal House. Georgia reminds us that we need to give. She doesn’t remind us with words or lectures; she reminds us with the way she humbly lives her life every day. Georgia chooses to live a life of service, and that helps so many people. We are all so incredibly fortunate to have Georgia in our lives as a role model, friend and supporter of Renewal House, and we honor her to make sure that she knows that.
Other valuable support comes from the sharing of expertise, such as:
- Medical, dental or eyecare professionals who can do workshops on the importance of regular attention to health.
- Attorneys or paralegals who can provide information on medical directives/wills/etc. and how they can be prepared in an affordable way.
- Wellness professionals/practitioners who can do workshops or provide classes, etc.
